What to do with your old golf bags

Many golfers use golf bags to carry their must-haves while playing. These golf equipment carriers get exposed to dirt and mud. Like other things, there will come a time that these carriers will succumb to wear. When a bag’s condition starts to deteriorate, a player would normally buy a new one. Believe it or not, there are many things you can do with your old golf bags. Throwing them away or buying a new bag are not your only options. Below are six things you can do with your old golf equipment carriers.

1.Let the bags be repaired

If you love your old bag and you don’t want to replace it with a new one, one thing you can do is to have it repaired. There are service centers that repair worn out bags, especially the ones made of leather. Repairing bags will cost a certain amount of money but the result will put a smile on your face. It is certain that your golf bags will be good as new again. If you don’t want to spend a huge amount of money for a store or a golf equipment repair center to repair them, you can also fix them by yourself. A zipper repair kit, leather polish, sewing kit and metal polish will do the trick. To make sure that you’re doing it right, you can also ask your fellow golfers on how to fix these kinds of bags.

2.Sell them to fellow golfers

Golf bagsAside from having your old bags repaired by a repair center or yourself, you can also sell them to your fellow golfers or to golf tutorial centers. Nowadays, new golf equipment carriers, especially the branded ones, can cost $150 or more. If you have old bags at home, you can sell them at half the price to people who need them. You can sell them online or through a garage sale.

3.Display them in your house

If your worn out golf bags have sentimental value for you and you don’t want to throw them away, you can display them in your house instead. Displaying them will be a good idea if your house has a lot of space. You can also build a glass container for them to make your house somewhat like a mini golf museum. If you don’t want to spend money to create glass container, you can simply display them in your living room or in an empty room.

4.Give the bags to your friends

You can also give your old bags to your close friends who are golfers just like you, or to those who want to learn how to play golf. If you don’t need an old bag anymore, let a friend use it instead. Just make sure to fix it a little bit before giving it to your friend.

5.Donate them to charities or golf-related organizations

Another thing you can do with your old golf equipment carriers is to donate them to charities or golf organizations. With your donation, you can help a certain organization raise funds for a certain project. Your bags can help them fund golf tournaments and other golf-related events. They can also give your bags to people who want to learn the sport but have no money to buy golf equipment.

6.Turn them into new things

Aside from selling or donating your worn out golf bags, you can also upcycle them. You can turn your bags into plant or tool containers. Another thing you can do is to paint or decorate them and turn them into artistic home decor.

PCB Fabrication – Etching

During PCB fabrication, a Printed Circuit Board is etched using acid to remove all the unwanted copper from the laminate. A temporary mask is applied to protect all the parts of the laminate from acid. Remember that there may be risks in the PCB fabrication process because the materials used can be volatile or toxic. Properly dispose of chemicals by placing them in appropriate containers. Use all the protective equipment needed like gloves and masks, and also, familiarize yourself with all the tools and materials needed for PCB fabrication.

Most importantly though, you need to know the steps involved in the etching process by heart.

1.In doing PCB fabrication, be sure to work in a ventilated area before mixing the chemicals. Design a layout for the circuit board. Print the layout on specialty paperusing a laser printer. Some prefer to use glossy paper. Using glossy paper will make the toner adhere to the plate without using too much equipment. Keep the pages as flat as possible and try not to accidentally put oil on them so that a flawless product can be made.

2.Use a non-metal basin and check if the basin you will use can withstand the effect of the acid that will be used for etching. Carefully clean the residual dust from the substrate that you will be using. Use a soft sponge and a slightly damp paper towel.

3.Position the board on a flat surface and use a hot flat iron to make the print adhere to the board. Align the print properly to the board and as much as possible, do not allow it to move. Push the hot iron down for about 1-2 minutes. After that, move the iron around the board for about 4-5 minutes. Let it cool down before you move it about. Put the board in cold water and let it soak for 5-7 minutes. Peel the print off the board and if it still does not come off, let it soak for another 3 minutes.

Pcb Fabrication4.Immerse the board in acid to clean the remaining copper. The usual recipe is two parts of hydrogen peroxide and one part hydrochloric acid. The acid should be mixed with water and not the other way around. After they are mixed, it can be very irritating to the skin and may produce harmful fumes. Mix just enough to submerge the circuit board. After the substrate has been submerged, the acid will react and the solution will get warmer. It will start to produce more fumes. Do this process for about 13-15 minutes. Stir the solution and check if it begins to take on a green tint. This means that the copper is beginning to clear up from the board.

5.If the copper is dissolved, wash the board with running water for about 1-2 minutes. Use a paper towel or dry rag to remove the water from the board. Remember to use gloves when handling the board.

6.When disposing the etching solution, dilute it first in water to make it less hazardous. Dispose it in the appropriate chemical waste facility. The etching solution is very harmful especially if flushed down the drain. It can kill marine organisms, even if only a very small amount is ingested. It can also damage pipes, and that is why it is necessary to take the precautions mentioned before.

7.To completely clean the board, mix rubbing alcohol and acetone at one is to one ratio. Use a paper towel to wipe the black print off the board. Revealed under it is the etched mark of the copper on your board.

Etching, and fabrication as a whole, is a complex procedure. So, never rush into things for the sake of quality and safety.

Tips in using a Portable Storage Container

So you’ve made the right decision of choosing to use a portable storage container instead of sticking to the more traditional storage solutions. The next question in your mind may be how you can make the best use out of the space that you have. Due to it’s size, packing a portable container can be a little trickier than using your usual cardboard boxes. Fortunately, there are certain tips that you can follow in order to make this task a breeze. Run through the following pointers and use them in packing the most number of belongings into your portable storage.

Strengthen the Base

When it comes to packing, you should generally begin with the heaviest and the toughest things at the bottom. Find key elements that you can use for the base of your portable storage container and place them in as foundation. Also make your way from the back of the container. This way, the rest of your things will be resting on items that are sturdy enough to hold their weight, even as you start transporting them.

Section It

Portable Storage containerIt will also be easier for you to pack things into your portable storage if you place your belongings into your container section by section. One thing that you can do in order to make packing and unpacking easier is to portion things depending on where you want to place them in your house. Kitchen things should stay together, as do those that will go to the living room or the bedrooms. Place the bigger pieces in, section-by-section, and then fill in the space in between with the smaller ones. This way, you will also be able to easily unpack them once you get to your destination.

Straps are your Friends

Since you will practically be throwing all of your belongings inside a big, moveable box, you should find a way to keep them in place. It’s a good thing, then, that adjustable straps are a dime a dozen! Go to your local hardware or home improvement store and find straps that you can use in order to secure the things that you will place inside your portable storage container. Using straps is imperative, even if you think that you have packed your things as tightly as you can. This way, you will be able to have peace of mind in knowing that your things will not move and bump against one another as you transport them.

Bubble Wrap It Up

If you are going to move houses, then it will be safe to assume that you will be moving around a lot of fragile furniture. While using a portable storage container will save you from the hassle of individually placing them in insulated boxes, you will still need to add an additional layer of protection. In moving fragile things, bubble wrap will do the trick! Cover your fragile furniture with two layers of this magical moving tool and you will be good to go.

Don’t Forget the Lock

Once you have neatly packed all of your belongings into your portable storage container, the last thing that you need to do is to secure the whole contraption with a sturdy lock. Make sure that you will use one that will be able to withstand the amount of weight and pressure that all of your belongings will exert on the door of your container. Invest on a heavy-duty lock, because the safety and security of your belongings are at stake. It will be best for you to use more than one, too, to ensure that every single thing that you packed will get to your destination.
